Is connecting with others on my wellness journey important??

Well….I could tell you my opinion, although I think you can guess it on your own anyway!  Instead, how about I share some facts and you decide for yourself how or if taking the time to reach out to a community and embrace connection with others could benefit your health & wellness!
Ok, here we go:
  • Improved mental health: People who have strong social connections are less likely to experience anxiety, depression, and loneliness. They are also more likely to have a sense of purpose and belonging.
  • Reduced stress: Social connections can help to buffer the effects of stress. When we feel supported by others, we are better able to cope with difficult times.
  • Stronger immune system: Studies have shown that people with strong social connections have a stronger immune system. This is because social interaction helps to reduce stress, which can weaken the immune system.
  • Increased lifespan: People with strong social connections tend to live longer than those who are more isolated. This is likely due to the fact that social connections can help to protect us from health problems such as heart disease, stroke, and dementia.
  • Improved physical health: Social connections can also lead to improved physical health. People with strong social connections are more likely to engage in physical activity and eat a healthy diet. They are also less likely to smoke and drink alcohol excessively.
  • Greater happiness and satisfaction: People who have strong social connections are generally happier and more satisfied with their lives. They also report feeling more supported and cared for.

Overall, there’s an incredibly strong body of evidence to suggest that being connected to others is good for our physical and mental health. If you are looking to improve your overall well-being, make an effort to connect with others more often and just see what happens!!  You don’t have to do it forever….just try it and see if you like it!

The journey to health & wellness doesn’t end at a number on the scale, nor does it have to revolve around one either.  It’s an ongoing, ever changing process that gives us the opportunity to learn about ourselves and to grow in ways we may not have even anticipated at the beginning.  Wellness encompasses mind, body & spirit.

With support of each other we can accomplish anything we desire and actually ENJOY the process!!  No matter how you choose to connect with others, make sure to do it in a way that feels meaningful and enjoyable to you. The more you connect with others, the better you will feel both physically and mentally. ✨And that is my wish for each & everyone of us, my friends✨❤️
