“All great masters are chiefly distinguished by the power of adding a second, a third, and perhaps a fourth step in a continuous line. Many a man had taken the first step. With every additional step you enhance immensely the value of your first.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
One of the biggest stumbling blocks to any long term behavior change and especially in weight loss, is impatience. Too often, we want to see what we consider “big results” right away and when our unrealistic expectation is not met, frustration sets in, leaving us feeling discouraged and questioning whether we can ever accomplish our desired weight.
Many people start the weight loss journey but unfortunately only a small percentage stick with it. Unrealistic expectations and impatience play a giant role in failed behavior change. Modifying our behaviors, habits and routines is a PROCESS made up of “baby steps” taken consistently and continuously. When we don’t value the SMALL changes that make up the process of major change, we become impatient and revert back to old, unhealthy habits.
Don’t make this mistake!!! Take the time and energy to recognize ALL the good choices you’re making each day. Respect the process and do all you can t ENJOY the healthy life you’re creating for yourself ONE STEP AT A TIME!
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”.
