“Johnny Winter is one of the best blues players in the world.
He’s very underrated.” -Ritchie Blackmore

The weather makes this a hard time of year to stay motivated to move and even though it’s been unseasonably warm these past few days, I find this winter no exception. And RAIN? It’s so muddy and gross outside!!! Ugh!!! Soon to be frozen mud, it sounds like according to the forecast. WINTER–blah!!!

If you’re struggling a bit too, first remember you’re not alone and there is nothing wrong with you. It’s an important time for us to ban together and keep each other inspired. It’s also important to forgive ourselves for days that we aren’t very active. This isn’t a short-term thing……it’s our entire life, so it’s natural for their to be times of more activity as well as times of less activity. Step back and look at the BIG picture so that you can keep it all in perspective.

The other thing I’m finding helpful, is to remember that ALL activity counts towards keeping us healthy. We may not be exercising at our highest intensity level but any movement is good. Anything that we can do to make us less sedentary during these dark winter months “counts”. Walking the grocery store, riding a stationary bike while watching your favorite show, going up and down stairs, cleaning closets….whatever! Choose small things to keep you busy and just be active when you can. No activity is too small or insignificant.

Winter is temporary and it’s all part of the journey. Don’t let it get you down or make you discouraged. Be extra-diligent with tracking your food intake, set aside the time to cook up a big pot of veggie soup, stick with attending our Weight Watchers meetings and together we can make the most of the rest of this winter!

See you soon!
