“October’s Party, by George Cooper: -October gave a party; The leaves by hundreds came; The Chestnuts, Oaks, and Maples; And leaves of every name.; The Sunshine spread a carpet, And everything was grand, Miss Weather led the dancing, Professor Wind the band. Welcome to the party as the poem describes!!!! Today is October 1, 2010 and autumn has arrived in all it’s splendor. This has to be one of the most enjoyable, pleasant times of the year. The mornings and evenings are cool yet the afternoons are still sunny and warm. The colors are starting to change and it just smells like fall outside.” “I’m bored”” is one of the most annoying things kids say yet I think we too, can be guilty of allowing ourselves to fall in to the boredom trap when it comes to healthy living. When that happens, we aren’t living and behaving with the same intensity and excitement, therefore our results are watered down. Weight loss slows or stops because we aren’t doing the things we need to, yet we seem surprised. Hmmmm. -Let’s not be taken by surprise this year but rather use this glorious season to shake things up and make healthy living new and fresh. Let’s embrace all that fall has to offer us and get excited about the next 2 precious months that precede winter.——-It’s not too hot, it’s not too cold, and there are no mosquitoes to complain about anymore so let’s move around outdoors and enjoy it. Walk a trail you’ve never been on-Peck Farm has a great walking loop that’s centrally located or try Nelson Lake.—-Comfort foods are “”in”” right now so take 10 minutes to go on-line and search a new crock pot recipe. Look up the recipe for the famous “”1 Point Chili”” recipe that we all RAVE about. It’s a staple food at my house in the fall and winter! Honey crisp apples are everywhere and they are out of this world! Bake them with splenda and cinnamon to make an awesome dessert that will also make your house smell divine!!!———Enjoy this first day of October and let’s make it a fabulous month!!!
