Finding Bliss Right Now

“There is only one reason why you’re not experiencing bliss at this present moment, and its because you’re thinking or focusing on what you don’t have.. —-Dr. Wayne W. Dyer

If we cannot find a way to enjoy the weight loss experience it will be very difficult for us to stick with it and succeed. Sustainability is even more important than success because without it we cannot ultimately succeed. If you can’t do this long term, any weight loss you achieve (aka “success”) will most likely be gained back. To be able to live healthy lives long-term it needs to become part of who we are and what brings us joy. Bliss comes from sitting here this moment and focusing on what you DO have. Sometimes that requires looking at “non scale victories” as we talked about at our meetings this week. Maybe you don’t have a 20 pound weight loss to reflect on and be grateful for today, but what do you have? Better eating habits? You’re moving more? A more conscious sense of how you are caring for yourself and you health? An identification that often times you eat for reasons other than hunger? Even if you want to change your behaviors but haven’t yet been able to do so, be grateful for the insight you’re gaining. At least you know what you need to do and you’ve found someone to help you make those changes. Me! I’m right here! And so are about 60 other people every week at our meetings who are working on the same things!——- Whatever you do, STOP focusing on what you don’t have. Don’t waste a moment lamenting about the 20 pounds you haven’t lost (yet) because it will suck the energy right out of you. I know weight loss can bring us bliss but I’ve also met plenty of people who have lost weight who are still not “blissful” about it. You can always find something you lack or don’t have enough of so turn your thoughts to what you do have this moment. Even if you have to “dig deep” those non-scale victories are there and when you find them and focus on them, you’re bound to receive more.—–Have a very happy, healthy day 🙂
