Recently, I was sharing with a dear friend, some personal stuff about myself that I’ve been a little down about. Rather than agree, commiserate or sympathize with me, like in thought she would, she immediately responded….

“Change the channel from negative talk!! You’re always something good just because you have the favor of God! ”

My first thought to her response was “I wish it were as easy as just changing the channel and being good enough just as I am”. Hmmmm, wouldn’t that be nice? Then my second thought was “Why can’t it be????”

We all have millions of thoughts pass through our minds on a daily basis but that doesn’t mean we have to grab hold of every one and focus on it. When we become conscious that we are holding thoughts about ourselves (or anyone else, for that matter) that are not making us happy, we really can choose to change the channel and see the situation in a different light or just think about something else!!!! We really are GOOD enough and even PERFECT (yes, perfect…I know it can be hard to see, but it’s true) just as we are right now, this moment.

If we want to make changes in our lives and in our behaviors, clearly we’ve been given the free will to do so, but we will be much more successful if we keep our thought focused on a channel that’s positive and grateful for what and who we are right now.

Rarely does being on a negative channel accomplish anything good, so let’s all take my good friend’s brilliant advice and “Change the channel from negative talk!!” starting NOW!!

Love you, Miss S! Thanks for always being there!!!

My 6th grader, Chase, has always wanted to experience Alcatraz, so Darin and I are taking him to San Francisco for a long weekend. I’ve never been to northern CA, so I’m very excited to fly out this morning too!! We are taking a night time tour of Alcatraz, a bike tour across the Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito AND touring Candlestick Park!!! It’s going to be a packed weekend!!!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
