The above quote really hits home, doesn’t it? Life is full of choices between what we really want and what we want NOW. Often they are not synonymous!!

At 430am when it’s dark and -12 degrees, at that moment, I want to snuggle in and go back to sleep, but what I really want for the day is to feel awake, energized and to have the personal satisfaction of knowing that no matter how haywire my day might go, I accomplished a workout.

As you’re going through your day today, ask yourself if what you are doing at this moment is bringing you closer to your personal goals or further away. Are you trading instant gratification for what is truly important to you? If so, like with any change we make that we want to last, take one small step to change it at that moment. Don’t wait…do ONE thing to bring you closer to the life you want right then. It might be to close your eyes, breath and say a short prayer. One small step towards your best life might be to make the phone call you’ve been putting off. It could be as simple has drinking a glass of water (this time of year I practically need to set an alarm on my iPhone to make sure I get enough water because I just don’t crave it as much!) or packing a healthy lunch or snack to have with you. It might be to put down whatever it was you were about to eat out of boredom and go find another way to entertain yourself!

The idea is to become aware of the moment you are in currently and make it your own. Life is now. Become conscious of the present moment and take action to align your behavior with what’s most important in your life. Even if that action is to stop what you’re doing to take a break and regroup. Especially at those times. It’s so easy to get carried away by the current of everyday life and by the time we come up for a breath, we don’t recognize the life we are living as anything we chose.

Let’s make choices today that are fulfilling and are going to give us lasting satisfaction. Sound good???

Stay warm!

Terra:-)
