Don’t let the number on the scale define you or determine your mood today. I know it’s easy to do, but it’s a lie. Because you are not at your absolute dream weight (which is like chasing an mirage, by the way) does by NO MEANS mean that you are not perfect and whole just as you are.
We spend a lot of time preparing and thinking about food, activity and how we look but none of it matters if we don’t have control over our own thought. I’ve met some of the most beautiful, healthy women who don’t see themselves that way at all and as a result they are unhappy. It’s unnecessary! If they could see themselves the way I see them and their other friends and family see them it would be like a fog lifting and a huge ah-ha moment. Perception is everything! True or false, if YOU believe it, then it becomes your reality.
So what is your reality today? Is that number you see as you step on the scale this morning who you are? Is that where your true value to this world lies? Will your kids, your spouse, your best friend, your mom, your dad love you more when that number is different? Will you love yourself more when that number is lower? I’m afraid way too many of us are secretly answering YES to that last question. I’m going to challenge you to exercise your dominion over your thought about what makes you worthy and beautiful today. Get tough with your thinking and say NO when negative, ugly thoughts about your weight, your body image or how you look try to creep in and affect your mood or the quality of your day. Turn it around. Change your perspective. Spend your brain power thinking of all the reasons you have to be grateful for the gift you’ve been given: Your Life. Not some movie star or magazine model’s life, not your skinny neighbor who eats anything she wants life. Your life. We don’t have to be perfect to be beautiful and the sooner we accept that and live it, the easier it is to be happy.
Let’s not wait until you weigh less or when you fit back into those jeans or hit that weight milestone. Life is too short and every moment too precious to wait. Let’s allow ourselves the freedom to love and be loved today with no strings attached. Just gratitude, just as we are in this moment.
I was in Pittsburgh last week taking my 13 year old son, Chase, to visit Steeler’s Training Camp, but I’M BACK now!!
All is well!
