“Patience is waiting. Not passively waiting. That is laziness. But to keep going when the going is hard and slow-that is patience.”

Please ignore the fact that we never put away our lawn furniture from last summer! The point of this photo is to show that it’s almost April and our deck has SNOW on it from early this morning! AHHH! Typical spring is Northern Illinois but it’s tough to accept!
It’s cold outside now and it’s going to be a cold for the next several days. Those of us that are NOT heading south on spring break need to brace ourselves! I don’t know about you, but for me, this is a tough time of year to manage my thoughts and feelings. I want it to be warm and sunny, but it’s not. My husband being in San Diego all week while I am here in the cold doesn’t help either!!! The calendar says it’s spring and so do all the store windows but it’s still cold, dark and often dreary. Hang in there and prepare yourself. Let’s make a plan for this weekend ahead of time and set our expectations accordingly. We cannot control the weather but we CAN control our behaviors. Eating our way through the last cold days of winter 2011 is NOT going to make it get any warmer or go any faster. It’s also not going to help us to feel any better. Let’s be patient and remain active so we are ready for that gorgeous spring weather when it finally arrives!!!!
