Ditch The Fear, Guilt And Worry

Fall seven times, stand up eight.
~Japanese Proverb

It’s so easy to get frustrated with ourselves when we “fall off” or behave in ways that we know are not in-line with our weight loss goals and often it happens on the weekends. Managing our weight is important to us so what makes us stray from that at times? I wish I could answer that for us all, but obviously I can’t because there is no single answer! The only thing I know foresure is that it’s not uncommon and it doesn’t have to hinder our progress if we get right back on track. “On” days and “off” days are a normal part of this process called life (not just “WW life”!!) and the sooner we can accept that and stop torturing ourselves mentally for not being “perfect” the more positive progress we will be making on this journey. Mastering the art of “Letting it go”, as they say!

I love the simplicity of the above quote and also the depth of it’s meaning. No excuses, no apologies, no emotion—Just get up this Monday morning and start fresh. Again? Yep, again! How often do we have to start over? We get to start over every single day. This is a management process and it’s up to you to decide your course for today. No matter how motivated you are, all you have to manage is THIS day. No matter how motivated your not, all you have to manage is THIS day. We can all manage ONE day, so don’t focus on last weekend or any part of the past that might be nagging at you and don’t allow yourself to have any fear about tomorrow or “how long is this going to take”. Ditch the fear, guilt and worry and let’s make it a joyful day of healthy, happy living!!!! One day, you can do it!!

    Terra,
Thanks for this post. I really needed it!! I had a tough weekend (WW points wise). I am ready to weigh-in today and put the past behind me. I may even be down a pound or 2. I have to remeber that I am not “starting over”. I am down 18 pounds and have come along way towards a healthy lifestyle.
