“Never give up, for that is just the place and time that the tide will turn.”

-Harriet Beecher Stowe

What happened at this year’s Super Bowl was an exhilarating example of a group of people overcoming huge odds by not giving up or backing down and making their dream a reality because of it.  Wow! Love that!! Whether or not you care about football, you just can’t help but feel inspired by this story.

I don’t actually love football, but my favorite people in the world do and I love having a connection with them, therefore, I’ve turned into a pretty big fan over the last 21 years!  If you want to spend time with your kids when they are their happiest, jump in and learn to love and support what they love, right???

Cole and especially Chase, are really into the strategy of the game.  They study and know all the players and coaches and because they know so much of what’s happening in the background off the field, they can explain to me why the teams do many of the things they do during.  THIS is the heart of what I love about the game of football…….hearing the stories of what these guys go through and the adversity they overcome and as an added bonus, it’s something my boys like to talk about and I get to be a part of the conversation :))

If you feel like you have been struggling with a challenge forever and you’ll never overcome it, think about the Eagles.  The Philadelphia Eagles have been a football franchise for 85 years and they have NEVER won a Super Bowl….not once. Until now.  Their starting quarter back was injured in late in the season, so they’ve been playing with their back up quarter back, Nick Foles, who before the season started, thought about retiring.  They played against the New England Patriots who have won FIVE Super Bowls and arguably have one of the greatest starting quarterbacks of all time.  The odds were completely stacked against Philadelphia. So how did the Eagles do it?  They embraced being the under dog and they NEVER GAVE UP!!!

The thoughts that we have about a situation lead to the feelings we experience.  In all the pre-game hype, the Eagles made being the under dog team “cool”.  They gained power from it!  BEING THE UNDER DOG BECAME A GOOD THOUGHT, not a a scary one to them!

If you have been trying and trying to accomplish something but it just isn’t happening, try changing the way you think about the situation.   Instead of thinking of your past history as a struggle, ask yourself what good has come out of it?  What have you learned about yourself and what changes have you made for the better?  Let’s face it, when we feel bad, we usually don’t make the best decisions or put our best foot forward.  The way to replace those negative feelings is to move our thoughts to ones that empower us. If you feel like “the underdog” in your particular challenge, does that mean it’s a bad thing?  Only if you think it so!  We can change our perspective any time we choose once we realize it.  Step out of whatever thought pattern that has been holding you hostage and simply choose new thoughts!  And if we get to choose any thoughts we want, why not go big? Choose ones that make us feel amazing and see what happens!

For me, my most powerful feelings arise from thoughts of gratitude for what I already have in my life.  It’s hard at first to push aside the voice in my head that loves to dwell on thoughts of  “I wish I had this” or “I really wish I looked like that” but once I quiet those voices and search my thoughts for things to be grateful for, a calm takes over.   We really are creating our own reality.  Change your thoughts to ones that make you feel good and see how much easier it is to make better choices and watch the good unfold.  EXPECT IT!

Have a fabulous week everyone and thanks for reading my blog!  Your comments below really make my day, so thanks a ton for those too!  We are all in this together and that’s a thought that provides me with a feeling of great power and I hope it does for you too!

All is well!

Love,

Terra
