“If you think you can, you can. If you think you can’t, you can’t. Either way YOU are right!” -Henry Ford
In addition to countless other things in life, this absolutely applies to weight loss. Sometimes we actually fight for our limitations when it comes to behavior change. Without realizing it, we argue over and over to ourselves reasons we think we will never get our weight and/or eating under control. Which of course actually instills more of the same negative self talk that keeps us from going in the direction we want to go!! AHHH!! Stop the madness!!! Do we want to be right or healthy??
Let’s be both, what do you say???? Let’s wake up and recognize we can do what we set out to do and let’s celebrate all the small changes along the way. Letting go of fear and doubt about our eating, our weight and ultimately our health is a choice. Don’t let negative self talk tell you you’re not strong enough, it’s too hard, you aren’t capable or any other untruths! The voice telling you to give up and constantly posing the questions such as “Why bother?” is completely under your control!!
You wouldn’t let someone dump unkind, low energy garbage on your children or grandchildren, nor on your spouse, sister or your best friend………so don’t accept it for yourself either!! YOU. CAN. DO. THIS.
Say NO to fear and negative self talk today and replace it with truths that feel good. All day. Every time a negative thought about yourself enters your head, stop it in it’s tracks and replace it with a truth that feels good. Step back and give some thought to the non scale victories you’re accomplishing. We achieve these all the time, yet many times we don’t even notice them, let alone enjoy or celebrate them. Anytime you make a choice healthier than you would have in the past, it’s is a victory.
Shifting our thought to what we did well instead of what we didn’t do well is a skill that a lot of us need to practice but once we get it, the momentum carries us and it feels great! When we feel good about our state of being, we WANT to take action to keep feeling good. Not just for weight loss, but to get more of the good feeling and to be more in line with our true nature. Healthy mind, spirit & body.
Find the good feeling thoughts…they are the ones that are light, hopeful and full of gratitude for what is, not waiting for something to happen first. If a thought feels heavy, negative and low energy….choose again!
Let’s use this pause to focus on more self care. This is a perfect time to consciously shift our self talk toward all the good in our lives.
All is well❤️
