“Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family. Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted. –Paul Pearshall

I’m over wrought with emotion sitting at the hospital right now with my sister waiting for her 4th baby to be born. As I walked to her room early this morning I could hear those teeney tiny cries of other newborns and although I’m not usually considered a “baby person”, my eyes filled with tears and a lump in my throat became almost unbearable. I thinks it’s the combination of memories of my boys’ births, excitement mixed with worry for what my sister, Paige, has to go through today and an overwhelming feeling of pure love for a baby girl I’ve yet to meet. Regardless of exactly where the emotion comes from, it sure takes over and nothing else matters. What was going to be just another “normal” Tuesday has turned into an event for our family. Work doesn’t matter. The weather is irrelevant. No one’s thinking about errands or what’s for dinner. It’s calming to just sit and be a part of family. I guess it might be like meditation-time to sit with the same people who surround me everyday but taking the time today to really see, hear and appreciate them. It’s such a reminder just how precious family. Is and that I probably take it for granted too often. Days like this put it all in perspective and help us to realize what’s important and what’s not and for that I’m grateful. Make the best choices you can today and let the not-so-perfect choices go. Step back and look at the big picture, it’s clear and full of choices for only you to make! Have a great day!!
