“Our fatigue is often caused not by work, but by worry, frustration and resentment.. —Dale Carnegie
We don’t get tired of making healthy food choices, taking better care of ourselves and being more active nearly as often as we get tired of the frustration that comes from the times we DON’T see these things through. Being healthy isn’t that “”hard”” the majority of the time–in fact it feels pretty good. What we get tired of NOT doing what we said we were going to do. We become exhausted from the worry and doubt about whether or not we really can lose the weight we set out to lose. All of the above can cause the resentment Mr. Carnegie references at the end of the quote.—-Sounds like an awful plight-what’s a girl to do??? CHANGE OUR MINDS. That’s right, we just have to change our thoughts so that when these feelings start to creep in, we can immediately identify them and take a firm stand against them. News flash-NONE of us are perfect and there WILL be days that our choices are not the best. There will be days our choices are so unhealthy, in fact, that we are embarrassed to even breath a word of them to anyone, let alone document them by putting the damage in writing!! That is OK! It has no bearing on you getting to your weight goal if you don’t let it damage your attitude and you get right back on track. We’ve ALL done it but the difference comes in what each of us choses to do the MAJORITY of the time. 80/20 Baby, 80/20! Don’t let the 20 percent of not-so-healthy choices bleed into your 80 percent of good ones. When we are frustrated, worried and resentful its about 100 times harder to get back on track and that is when our 80/20 rule can start to misalign. I know I say/write this all the time but that is because I have to keep thinking it myself in order to keep myself going: “”Progress, not perfection, is the simple pleasure to be savored.””. (Simple Abundance). This simple little quote is a powerful mantra for weight loss, fitness goals, raising children, personal relationships, our careers and just about any other department of life I can think about!!! Maybe it can serve you as well as it serves me when I apply it!!
