“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.” -Eleanor Roosevelt

FEAR. Many of us harbor a lot more of it than we realize when it comes to eating challenges and weight. Fear of being (or being seen as) fat, fear of gaining weight, fear of not being able to lose weight, fear of not being able to say no to food, fear of not wanting to say no to the food and on and on and on…..

What if we were not afraid? What if we were able to just live each moment being grateful for who we are and being in tune with the body we have? Not waiting for anything to happen before we can begin to love who we are? Not after we lose 5 pounds or 50 pounds or sign up for the gym or go to the gym we’ve been a member of for ions…but NOW, AS-IS. What if we had the courage to stand up to the negative self talk, the evil twin as I like to call her, and say NO to the fear?

NO, I’m not going to bag on myself today. NO, I’m not going to be afraid my butt looks too big too big or that my stomach isn’t flat. NO, I am not going to be afraid to say NO to the snack I want when I know I am not hungry. NO, I am not going to be afraid to stop eating before I am full.

Think of all the reasons we don’t take action to live the way we want to and I think you will find that way too much of if it boils down to fear. I love this quote by Eleanor Roosevelt and I believe it to be true….

“You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do.”

The Thanksgiving holiday is 10 days away. Let’s start giving thanks now while gaining more personal courage and strength today by taking the time to face whatever scares us about living at a healthy weight. So often our fears are not even valid!! They are just crazy ways our negative self talk has twisted our thought to hold us back! By standing up to fear we gain the confidence to make new and better decisions that are TRULY in line with the life we want to live.

We have the power to erase fear and replace it with joy and gratitude, so let’s take action and do it!!!! Relinquishing anxiety and fear is a much healthier way to live our lives and we can immediately feel lighter and happier.
