“Take time to deliberate; but when the time for action arrives, stop thinking and go.” -Unknown
The time for action is NOW. Today. This moment. Labor Day is 3 weeks from tomorrow and your changes can really add up in that amount of time. ——-At the meetings this week, I challenged you to write out your goal for Labor Day and to get moving towards it. I hope you have a clear sense of what you want to focus on and how you are going to make that a priority. Remember, it doesn’t always have to be about weight. It can be a fitness goal, a behavior change or just to maintain your current weight through a busy few weeks. The idea is to outline what you would be happy accomplishing and then reviewing that outline when the later date arrives. It’s the best way I know to provide ourselves with feedback. If you say you want something today, but in 3 or 4 weeks, when you revisit your goal, you have made no changes to accomplish it, it might be a good time to get honest with yourself and see if you REALLY want what you say you wanted. If you’re determine you DO want that goal, even though you didn’t act on it, then you can modify and find out why that is and adjust. As we discussed in the meetings last week, patience is absolutely crucial. Not only patience with the scale, but more importantly, patience with yourself. Behavior change takes effort. You’ve been living one way and although you’ve decided you don’t like the results of how you’ve been living, you’re used to it and its comfortable. Change takes time, focus and patience but it is so empowering and worth it!!! I don’t think we realize all that we are truly capable of doing when we just commit!—–The good news is, we can all feel the results of change, once we do it, rather quickly. Pay attention to how you feel when you stop eating when you’re full instead of when your food is gone. It feels better-its not a punishment! When you wake up in the morning after a good day before, note how you don’t feel bloated and likely have more energy and a better outlook on the day ahead. That’s progress. Watch your endurance increase as you consistently get more exercise in each day. Today it might be once around the block, but if you keep doing it, by next week you will be able to go measurably further. Talk about exciting!! When you feel yourself getting stronger you will want to do more because it feels good. —–Don’t let your doubts or your fear hold you back. We are in this together and moving forward with gratitude!!!! Happy Sunday-make it a great one :-)-
