Our Weight and Health Are Something We Manage NOT Own

I took this photo on my run this cold, winter morning because the view reminded me that “Life is a journey and not a destination.” It’s unfolding for each of us, everyday, in different ways. Our job is to keep moving forward, managing it, while enjoying the process.

Our weight is not something we own, possess or get to keep. Rather, our weight and health are things that we manage on a continuous basis. Through this management process, we will modify and adapt to each new day by learning from what worked and didn’t work the day before. You are the perfect YOU for this moment. Don’t waste a single second of your energy wishing you were thinner, smaller or in better shape today because “right now” cannot be changed. Today already is as it is. Embrace this moment , be grateful and move forward in whatever direction YOU choose for tomorrow. If what you want for tomorrow means making different choices and having different priorities today, then make an executive management decision about what needs to happen and follow through. Make the changes but do it with kindness to yourself and enjoy the process. Life really is a journey, not a destination with a continuous flow, so relax and go with it.

    I love love love this post today, thank you.. it’s just what I needed. I am leaving for Florida in a week with two of my favorite (skinny) friends from HS, and I just could not get past that I am not where I want to be, to the point that I was almost dreading going. Then I read this, and I realized how insane that is, to not realize it’s not a place I need to get before I can live the good in my life, but it’s now. How side tracked we can become with this all or nothing thinking. It is wasted energy. It is about daily management. I like that thought. I am blessed I have an opportunity to go to Florida with wonderful friends, and enjoy that 85 degree sunshine! And making the best choices I can daily, I can relax and enjoy the journey! I’m just positive joy burns more calories ☺!
