“Sometimes all we need is just a new perspective.” ~Unknown

Yesterday we woke up to a very grey, foggy Sunday. My first thought was ‘BLAH! We finally get some mild temperatures but now it’s all misty and dark. WA!’ I was dragging around the house letting this get me down and feeling rather blue as I was getting ready to take our dogs on a walk. Darin, my hubby, said he would join me. We walked in silence for a while and then he said “This is such cool weather? I just love days like this. The fog makes everything look so interesting.” I paused, making a earnest effort not to verbalize how mistaken I thought he was!! WHAT was he talking about???? I wouldn’t describe foggy and grey as amazing weather!!! I think of amazing weather being bright sun and vibrant colors…this was exactly the opposite!! But…..

As we continued to walk, I started to see what he was seeing. The fog made everything look peaceful and calm. The streets were quiet and seeing the trees in monochromatic shades of grey really was pretty….just in a different way. It turned out to be a lovely walk but more importantly, it changed my whole perspective on the day and it became brighter in my mind’s eye without the sun ever coming out!!

We have the ability, the gift, to change our experience anytime we like by changing our thought. A simple change in thought can literally change what we “see” instantly. Stepping back and searching for a new perspective is exactly what I needed and it works in every situation. It could be taking a step back changing the way we think about what we eat. Thinking of healthy eating as something we want to do that feels good rather than something we have to do to get our weight down. Or moving more because we are able to and because it makes us happy.

Perspective is an active choice and changing it can be done whenever we are made aware of this fact. I was caught up in my own little story when Darin’s words, after thinking about them for a while, woke me up to a new way to look at our walk and ultimately made my entire day better. One of my favorite quotes of all time is from Wayne Dyer. He says “When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change.” How have you experienced this too?

Thanks for all the fabulous comments you posted last week!! It was great to hear from so many of you!! Hope you have a terrific week!!

All is well😊

Love,

Terra❤️

Thanks for sharing and encouraging each of us, Terra. We all need to be reminded we have a choice to make many times during a 24 hour period. You chose the better one! Congrats!

Good reminder, Terra. And Darrin’s right-things do look calm and mysterious in the fog.

    Best to you,
