“Better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.” Chinese Proverb
Weekends can be a challenge for healthy eating, but they are also one of the BEST parts of life. Who doesn’t LOVE the weekends and all the FUN they bring?? Let’s not “curse” the weekends for being a break from our routine, because we need that and we enjoy it. Instead, let’s find a way to strike a balance between fun, relaxation, a break in the routine and healthy living. You don’t have to do EVERYTHING perfectly healthy, just do SOMETHING perfectly healthy and try to make that choice as often as you can. It all adds up!
Weekends a great time to get in more activity and MOVE MORE. Not only will that help you to unwind and leave the week’s stresses behind, it will also free up some room for the situations that you are going to eat more or heavier food than you do during the week like at parties or when dining out. GET OUT THERE TODAY…Rake leaves, clean your garage, walk, jog, go window shopping in one of the charming downtown areas (one of my TOP activity choices!)…WHATEVER….It ALL counts!
What we DON”T want to do on the weekends, is fall into the trap of “All or Nothing”. Make the best choices you can at the time, enjoy them and most importantly GET RIGHT BACK ON TRACK. We are in this for the long haul, so let’s keep focused on the big picture. As the quote says….“Better to light one small candle than to curse the darkness.”
Enjoy!
