When It Feels Like the Party Is Over

I was so happy to see so many of you at the WW meetings yesterday. I know how hard it is sometimes, to get right back in the swing of things after a holiday weekend. Can you believe the 4th of July is over already?? We had such a nice time up in Door County with Darin’s family that getting up and going yesterday was a challenge for me, that’s for sure! But getting to start my day with my WW meetings was a BIG help.

If you are struggling at all with feelings of guilt, regret or even let down because the long weekend is over, know that you are not alone. It IS a challenge to go from a party weekend with family, friends and food back to our everyday life, so be kind to yourself. We plan, we pack, we prepare and then is all goes by so fast!

Starting this fresh, new week, don’t allow any regret to set in when it comes to the choices you made over the weekend. Whatever you ate or didn’t eat, whatever you did or didn’t do…those were the right choices for you at that time. There really is no such thing as “failure” when it comes a healthy lifestyle because each day we have the gift of a new choice. Getting back on track is the key, so don’t waste a minute. It won’t be long before we are preparing for Labor Day weekend, so if you want to do things different on that holiday, you can use what you have learned from the 4th of July as a start. In the meantime, we have about 8 glorious weeks of summer left and let’s enjoy them to the fullest. Gratitude for all that we have this moment is a terrific start!

Oh Terra….thank you so much for those encouring words this morning. I needed them. I have never thought of Somonauk as the vacation spot in Illinois but it was for some of my family as they have been here for 2 weeks with a trip inbetween up to Canada for them. They left yesterday morning some heading back to Virginia and some to Wisconsin.

Our 6 year old grandson was with us much of this time. Yes, he is full of energy. Needless to say, I needed your words today as I am trying to get myself back on track. I appreciated your words of wisdom so much because, yes, we forget that sometimes those memories that are being created will remain so much longer than the guilt we have for the extra piece of dessert that we ate.

We are important. We need to take care of ourself but we also need to enjoy the time we spend with loved ones. You said it so well.
