I’m a huge fan of hummus (dips of all kinds, really!) I find eating the recommended serving size of just 2 tablespoons to be quite a challenge! Any other volume eaters like me out there??? If so, read on…..
I created my own hummus using chick peas, fat free, plain Greek yogurt, fresh garlic, lemon, Tajin* and a tiny bit of water. I must say….YUM! It’s a success! Keep in mind, I’m a “to taste” kind of cook, so feel free to adjust the amount of any ingredients to match your own tastes. My measurements are not always (rarely) exact!
Joseph’s Pitas are a staple at my house and I’ve shared them on my site before. They turn into awesome pita chips in the air fryer! I simply use my kitchen sheers to slice one pita into 8ths, spritz with olive oil and in less than a minute in the air fryer they are crispy and delicious! We get our groceries through Walmart delivery and I’ve never had any trouble finding them at various Walmart locations. I believe most grocery stores carry them? They are thinner and lighter than a traditional pita.
Try it and let me know what you think in the comments!

Terra's Lemon & Garlic Hummus
Equipment
- Air Fryer
Ingredients
- 15 oz 1 Can of Garbanzo Beans (15 ounces) rinsed and drained
- 6 oz Greek Yogurt Fat free, Plain
- 1 Tbsp Fresh Garlic chopped, to taste
- 1 Tbsp Water
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
- 2 ts[ Tajin with lime spice The Tanjin with lime spice I use is pictured. I LOVE it...but it does have a strong lime/citrus flavor. If preferred, salt to taste could easily be substituted.
- Joseph's Flax, Oat Bran & Whole Wheat PIta Bread
Instructions
- Add drained, rinsed garbanzo beans to food processor along with garlic, lemon juice and water. **The order in which the ingredients does make a difference in the smooth, creaminess of the hummus.
- Mix until it's as smooth as possible. It will remain grainy, but it shouldn't be chunky. If needed....add little more water.
- Next, add the fat free, plain Greek yogurt and blend til creamy.
- Lastly add the Tajin with lime spice to taste and stir in completely. The Tanjin with lime spice I use is pictured. I LOVE it...but it does have a strong lime/citrus flavor. If preferred, salt to taste could easily be substituted.
- To make pita chips, I use kitchen shears to cut one pita into 8 triangles.
- Then, spritz with olive oil and a dash of sea salt or garlic salt.
- Lastly, put in air fryer for 1-2 minutes on 350*.
Delicious!❤️
I can attest these are tasty snacks!
